A few quick ones

posted Saturday, August 20, 2005 by glyph

Wow! What a week.

I wrote a lot of code, got a short-term contract doing Rails full time, wrote a few mini-apps to help me organize and track my time & goals, and learned to wakeboard without swallowing a gallon of water.

Here are some quick links I benefited from this week:

Running Subversion on a Shared Host via SVN+SSH

Previously I was running a local copy of CVS. Yes, I’m probably the last person in the world still using CVS, and SVN is so much better. And having it on a remote host is the way to go.

You can’t easily have more than one developer login, but I’m using it for my personal and solo projects and it works great.

Setting Up a New OS X Machine With Darwinports

I’m also probably the last person to be installing software with ’./configure; make; make test; make install;’. Now, I’m using Darwinports! So much easier, especially for RMagick. I’ll post my install script soon.

The First Balloons Theme in Action!

Special recognition goes to http://www.mpet45.co.uk for using my Balloons theme on a real, live site! Yes!
