I still use an old school answering machine. It’s digital, but most people are shocked to see that I don’t use voice messaging from the phone company.
After a few weeks of answering 5-6 telemarketing phone calls daily (or automated recordings), I decided to fight back. I turned the answering machine to pick up after two rings, and I now screen all my calls.
In addition to not breaking my workflow, I now have 5-6 opportunities each day to experience that feeling of accomplishment when you hear the trap snap shut and you know you got the mouse.
I usually resist the urge to do a little dance.
Have you tried signing up for the do not call list?
I rarely ever get telemarketing calls after signing up there (used to get a bunch every day).
Dude… donotcall.gov. I haven’t gotten a telemarketer call in over a year. Again: http://www.donotcall.gov . It’s a beautiful thing (although no opportunities for dancing, only for peace of mind).
That’s really easy. Thanks!
