Wide Graphs Feature for Gruff 5 comments

posted Monday, January 2, 2006 by topfunky

In the new Gruff 0.0.9:

  • Wide graphs. Works well down to a 2:1 ratio.
# Provide geometry instead of a Fixnum
b = Gruff::Bar.new('800x400')
# Hide different elements of the graph
g = Gruff::Line.new('400x200')
g.hide_legend = true
g.hide_line_markers = true
g.hide_title = true
g.hide_lines = true
g.hide_dots = true
  • Various bugfixes
  • A new mascot! Little notch-ear, as photographed by radsaq.

Thanks to contributors Mike Perham and Alun Eyre!

Also, some seats are still available for my Rails Workshops in the Seattle area and Los Angeles!

  • Great work as always, I love Gruff :-)

  • Sweet, I guess I can now ditch my custom script to resize the graphs (I have to fit two to a single 8”x11” PDF page).

    Last time I checked your Gruff, I remember it didn’t support negative numbers. In base.rb you only calculate the @maxmium_value to adjust the upper limit of chart and assume the mimimal value is 0. I think this can be easily fixed.

    Yes, I hope to add negative number support in an upcoming release.
